MUMS have rushed to defend pregnant Meghan Markle, after trolls slammed her for taking a few hours’ break from an “exhausting” royal tour.
The Duchess of Sussex, 37, who is expecting her first baby in the spring, has had a jam-packed schedule since landing Down Under with husband Prince Harry, 34, at the start of this week.
Harry advised Meghan to “cut back” and stay at home as he he cheered on Invictus Games road cyclists in Sydney this morning, reportedly telling the athletes she was “resting at home, being pregnant takes its toll”.
Meghan was back by her husband’s side a few hours later, for a lunch with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, but will also miss tomorrow’s scheduled events on Fraser Island, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
Trolls have targeted the the mum-to-be, arguing that “she’s pregnant not ill”, “common women have to work through” and telling her to “get in the real world”.
But mums have rushed to her defence, saying Meghan looked “exhausted” at recent events and dealing with jet lag while pregnant is far from fun.
One woman wrote: “It’s wise and you could see the exhaustion on her face, nothing is more important right now than that precious little one. Wishing her well.”
A second said: “Sad to read such judgemental comments. Every pregnancy is different.
“She is an older mum & the risk are higher. Kate Middleton missed a few engagements cos she had very badly with morning sickness.”
Others added: “The first trimester CAN be exhausting!” and “I have been worried about her and the baby!!!”
According to NHS advice, travelling in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy can be more difficult “because of nausea and feeling very tired during these early stages”.
Lots of women suffer from morning sickness right up to the 16-week mark, with Meghan thought to be somewhere between 12 and 16 weeks pregnant.
