Many injuries and deaths
avoidable with seat belts
Re: “Teen killed in Highway 17 crash ‘loved life,’ his friends” (Page B1, May 14):
The death of this child is truly a tragedy and possibly could have been averted. This child and two other children in the car were not wearing seat belts.
Seat belts save lives, and perhaps this death and the other injuries could have been avoided if the children in the car were strapped in.
We see too many accidents and injuries when people are not using these simple devices to protect their bodies. Parents should stress seat belts constantly from the time children outgrow car seats. It is that simple and should be mandatory when children are in a car.
