Unborn child merits greater
respect from training doctors
Re: “Why I want to be a doctor who performs abortions” (Opinion section, Oct. 3):
Congratulations to Isabel Beshar and her Stanford classmates for aspiring to become neurosurgeons and gynecologists. Certainly we need specialists as well as general practitioners.
Ms. Beshar has selected her field so that she can provide “the full spectrum of reproductive services-including abortion.” She claims to have respect for women and expresses certain political issues presently at the forefront. Unfortunately, nowhere in her column does she express concern for the baby, who many of us feel is the primary patient.
Hopefully, during the remainder of her training she will develop a greater respect for the unborn child.
