Would single-payer be
health care run like DMV?
Re: “Latest DMV fiasco reveals dysfunction and need for reform” (Editorial, Dec. 27):
Just imagine if by law we had to physically go to the DMV several times a year to stay compliant with state requirements.
Given the DMV’s recent track record of massive wait times and demonstrated incompetence regarding the REAL ID process, what a nightmare life would be.
Now picture a single-payer socialized state-run health care system run by similar well-meaning but overwhelmed workers who are serving 40 million customers.
Even if funding is miraculously resolved, placing our health care in the hands of a government bureaucracy will torment the soul as endless waits and mishaps occur and will unquestionably result in premature deaths a la VA hospital fame.
